In the last 30 years, rapid industrial development in Taiwan, the Republic of China, also brought in environmental pollution problem. The government has now placed environmental protection as one of the major affords in the next few years. In order to support this goal, the Union Chemical Laboratories, a division of Industrial Technology Research Institute hasdecided to undertake a major research program in industrial pollution control. This paper review the major technical bottleneck for industrial pollution control in Taiwan, and the intended research afford to resolve the difficulties. It is hoped that the result of this program will provide technical basis needed to Bureau of Environmental Protection for development of a nation wide pollution control program. [Author's abstract].
