the chosen color: pretty dark is an emotional, yet lyrical poetry journey inspired by soul and hip-hop music. this collection of poems was written during the pandemic and ice storm during the coldest winter ever. few poems were inspired by the death of hip hop legends who have inspired bre ashley and made her darkness feel normal, while others were late night thoughts fueled by intense creative vibes. pretty dark is an emotional interlude between bridging jet black: the prelude volume 1 and (forthcoming) volume 2.
