註釋
The site: Coldspring Creek, Cattaraugus County, New York.In the early 1700s, a Seneca Indian brutally murdered two of his own tribe ¿ the woman he loved and the man who had won her heart. Accompanied by the cries of the eagle flying above his head, Black Robe made his way through the thick forest back to his village. ¿It is true. The land is filled with an evil spirit. I have prayed to our ancestors for help. We shall not walk the land of our buried ancestors. Let no one set foot in that part of Coldspring Creek again.¿ By the mid-1800s, forests were cleared and land was sectioned off into counties, towns and villages. Coldspring became a town within Cattaraugus County, New York. William Bourne, the young stepson of a settler, brutally murdered his father and his father¿s wife. William¿s wedding had been only a week away when his stepfather had pushed him aside to marry the boy¿s fiancée, and brought her home to live with them.On March 5, 1935, on that very same land, another woman and the man she loved were brutally murdered by Freddy Lindsay in a fit of passion, jealousy and greed. That woman, Bernice Kenyon Farnsworth, was the great aunt of author Cheri Mancuso.Coincidence? Evil spirits? Primitive magic? Destiny?Coldspring is based on actual events, trial records, newspaper clippings, and family history. Coldspring: The Trial, and Coldspring: The Resolution, will be available soon.
