註釋A history of the Marks-Haindorf-Stiftung, a Jewish institution established in 1825 in order to encourage Jews to acquire a profession in handicrafts. The institution also had an elementary school and a "Lehrerseminar". Pp. 291-325 discuss the fate of the school during the Nazi period. The school comprised, in 1935, eight grades, and accepted children from the nearby villages. In 1938 the number of pupils was 39; after the "Kristallnacht" pogrom and the ensuing wave of emigration, 29 remained. In March 1940 the school ceased to exist de jure; it was transformed into a so-called "Jewish house", and became de facto a place of refuge for Münster's Jews. In July 1942 the 78 remaining Jews in Münster were deported to Theresienstadt.
