Singing the Tears
註釋A vivid narrative of the immigrant experience tracing four families as they escaped from the occupied countries of Lithuania and Poland to the northeastern United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They enriched this country with their culture and religious faith as they raised their families embraced in freedom, a privilege unavailable to them in their former countries. As they suffered and struggled in factories in Massachusetts and in the coal fields of Pennsylvania, they were able to introduce educational opportunities for us, their children and grandchildren. Their stories are typical of many other immigrants from countries of eastern Europe and Russia. They believe and treasure the motto in coins and paper currency found only in this country, In God We Trust.
