註釋
This report contains data on the chemical analysis of core samples taken along the Atlantic-Pacific Interoceanic Canal Route 17. Route 17 in Panama is one of the principal routes now being considered for excavation of a canal by nuclear means. This report contains a brief discussion of sampling procedures, analytical methods, sources of contamination, and the accuracy of analytical results. Lawrence Radiation Laboratory analyzed each of the samples for 84 constituents and a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers laboratory analyzed the samples for major element Four sets of analyses from the two laboratories are compared, and the significance of the comparisons is discussed.
