The Les copains d'abord DVD contains video segments which correspond to each chapter's linguistic and cultural content. Learners then encounter related activities that help them develop their language skills and cultural competence.

The video is divided into brief, independent episodes, and catches glimpses of these people's lives in a variety of self-contained situations (meeting at a café, daily routines, studying and going to school, vacationing, shopping for food, etc.), in which learners are exposed to real, contemporary language used in an authentic context.
