In the highlands of North Vietnam, due to overfarming, the native land has become arid. A young farmer, named Ban van Minh, encourages his family and neighbours to go to Vang-pe to cultivate new lands. Despite various challenges, the people come together under his enthusiasm and achieve a successful harvest. Ban van Minh is then awarded the title Hero of Labour and The Labour Single-grade order award.
