General History of the Caribbean
註釋?This volume begins against the back-ground of the abolition of slavery and the initiation of a free societythus with the Haitian Revolution in the eighteenth century. It follows that the different parts of the Caribbean region enter the picture effectively only when they leave slavery behind. After firmly established freedom the story moves naturally to the time of the First World War and the substitution of the United States for the Europeans in the role of overlord.
