THEY HAD KILLED ONE MARSHAL AND HELD ANOTHER CAPTIVE. NOW IT WAS UP TO PARKMAN TO SET THINGS RIGHT.
SUICIDE MISSION
Parkman came across the body in the mountains outside Adobe City, Colorado. It hung from a tree, and judging by the look of it, had been there three or four days. Deputy Marshal Franklin's death agony was plainly written on his face.
Parkman didn't have much choice about the mission Captain Lott assigned him. It meant getting himself arrested, breaking out of jail with two bloodthirsty outlaws, and convincing them he was one of their kind. They would lead him to the impenetrable Havens. If he lived long enough, that was where the hard part of Parkman's mission would begin—in a den of cutthroats, murderers, and thieves.
