Supporting Families Through Short-term Fostering
註釋Respite care has long been a service for children with disabilities. This study shows how others can benefit from similar periods of planned short-term fostering. The Children Act 1989 set out to dismantle the barriers encountered when children are 'in and out of care' by recognising that short-term fostering could contribute to the prevention of family breakdown. This study confirms the Children Act principle that working in partnership with parents is an effective way to promote the welfare of children and to achieve positive outcomes for families. Provides valuable information for practitioners, policy-makers and students of social work. One of a programme of research studies commissioned by the Department of Health to explore early evaluation of the Children Act 1989 in depth.
