Promenading Toward Democracy
註釋After World War II, many Americans became interested in their traditional folk dances--most notably the western square dance. Neglected for decades, the dance was suddenly projected as a symbol of democracy. By the end of the 1950s, an estimated six million people had joined tens of thousands of square dance clubs across the country--and the dance's popularity would persist for decades as it spread around the world.
