James Gallaher emigrated from County Donegal, Ireland to Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania in 1766, and moved to western North Carolina (now Tennessee) in 1781. Descendants and relatives were scattered throughout the mid-west, and in Virginia, Nevada, and elsewhere.
