註釋From Preface: "In a former volume the writer carried the "Annals of Coal Mining and the Coal Trade" down to the period of the Select Committee of the House of Commons on Accidents in Mines in 1835. In the present volume the subject is continued to the passing of the Coal Mines Inspection Act in 1850. The first half of the contents appeared, in serial form, in the pages of the Colliery Guardian. The remainder is now published for the first time.".
