註釋
" The purpose of this evidence-based practice (EBP) improvement project was to provide virtual education and social support to certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) preceptors in order to minimize burnout producing factors. A reduction in burnout levels was the desired outcome and a secondary outcome was translation of new knowledge into the clinical arena. This project was a pre and posttest design to evaluate burnout levels. Participants completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) anonymously to measure baseline levels of burnout. Participants then received 4 weeks of virtual education in the areas of burnout, communication, precepting principles and preceptor challenges. A virtual social support group provided weekly reflection questions. The project manager shadowed each participant to evaluate translation of knowledge. Final data collection followed, in which participants completed the MBI survey. This project showed improvement in the domains of EE and PA with a relative percent change of EE (-19.1%) and PA (4.0%). The domain of DP had minimal relative change (0.7%) as baseline scores were already very low and remained low post intervention. Strategies to curtail provider burnout can lead to improved quality of patient care and better outcomes. Theoretically through reducing provider burnout productivity and job satisfaction increase while absenteeism and job vacancies decline. Additionally, this project demonstrated an effective group intervention to reduce burnout while precepting, enhancing wellness and providing a more positive environment while precepting.
