In the medieval land of Glouthos, ancient culture left behind by dragons after their reign provided human civilizations with better magic and technology. Harlow Eldridge, a young boy growing up in the humble village of Dyrsko, finds the forbidden book written by the elemental dragon of shadow, which contains knowledge that only the ancient dragons knew. To protect this knowledge, the book uses dark magic to turn itself into a golden bracelet on Harlow's arm that cannot be removed. The bracelet gives him magical power, but also a tendency to destroy with it. It is said that only the power of a dragon is enough to affect the bracelet, so Harlow and his friends, Azryan, Hazel, and Kokaro make it their mission to find one of the few hidden dragons left in Glouthos to help them decide what to do with it. Their adventure takes many unexpected turns as they discover things nobody ever knew existed, and live things they never expected to live. The secrets they learn keep changing their beloved land and things may never be the same after every truth that is revealed, but whatever happens, Harlow is determined to put an end to the dark power that threatens Glouthos.
