Floristic Study of the Gramineae (Poaceae) of Arkansas

註釋All of the grass species known at present in the state of Arkansas are included in this work. The study was based on the herbarium specimens deposited in the University of Arkansas Herbarium (UARK), the Harvard Herbaria (GH, A), and the U.S. National Herbarium (US). Original keys for the genera and species of the grasses are provided to facilitate the identification of the Arkansas grasses. Statistical analyses (mean, range, 95% confidence interval) of the morphological measurements made on the species are presented in the appendix. An annotated list of the species in each genus is included. Chromosome numbers of some Arkansas grass species were counted and presented. Distributional data are presented for all grass species in the state. A total of 253 different kinds of grasses, representing 81 genera, 243 species, and 10 named varieties are recognized in this study. A list of 57 excluded species is also presented. Poa wolfii Scribn.; Stipa leucotricha Trin. & Rupr.; Brachiaria plantaginea (Link.) Hitchc.; Manisuris exaltata (L.f.) Kunt.; and Sphenopholis obtusata (Michx.) Scribn. var. major (Torr.) Erdman are reported for the first time as new state records by the author. One new combination is also included in this treatment, Panicum sphaerocarpon Ell. var. polyanthus (Schult.) A. S. Sherif.
