註釋John Martin the son of Thomas Martin and Mary Elizabeth Gerrard who lived at Pale Park in Dorsetshire, England. He came to America as did his brothers. He was living in York County, Virginia in 1650. He had a son Abram Martin who was born in England, but resided in King William County Virginia in 1680. Abram and his wife Elizabeth had four sons and a daughter. The eldest son was John Martin. He was the first of the family to be born in America. He was born ca. 1683 in New Kent County, Virginia and died on 25 March 1756. He represented Caroline and King William Counties in the General Assembly from March 1752 to March 1756 and died during the 1756 session. He married Leticia Lewis in ca. 1702/03. They were the parents of ten children.
