註釋
English summary: In Kant's Tugendlehre (Doctrine of Virtue) the general ethical orientation as expressed by the categorical imperative is applied to the conditions of human existence. Esser reconstructs Kant's approach against the backdrop of current, mainly Aristotelian virtue ethics, thus detaching the Kantian concept of virtue critically from its era-specific influences. On this modernized foundation, a conception of ethics based on transcendental philosophy is developed which takes into account the methodological and textual insight of the recent development of the theory.
