A Dreadful Mistake - Book 2
註釋From embarking on a political career in 1983 until his retirement in 1999, Barry Coulter's achievements were many - Deputy Chief Minister and Treasurer of the Northern Territory, longest-serving Mines Minister and longest-serving Racing and Gaming Minister in the Northern Territory. He led a tenacious and successful 13-year campaign for the north-south railway, was involved in the return of the Strehlow Collection, development of an oil and gas industry and the new port of Darwin, and was inaugural chairman of the Darwin Port Corporation. As Tourism Minister, Barry participated in negotiations which resulted in the Sultan of Brunei lending aircraft during the airline pilots' dispute and, as Racing Minister, he was instrumental in introducing corporate bookmakers into Australia, and became chairman of International All Sports, the first corporate bookmaker to turn over $1 billion annually. Barry Coulter got things done.
