The book is about the approximately 300 years of the Brazilian colonial period, from the arrival of the first Portuguese navigators to the expansion of the country’s borders beyond what was defined by the Treaty of Tordesillas.

As a language resource, the drawings of Vallandro Keating and the text of the journalist and historian Ricardo Maranhão complement each other, providing an unexpected perspective of the space and new angles of vision for old maps and representations, stimulating the reflection about embedded intellectual positions established by the traditional historiography.
