註釋
These Proceedings, the fifth in a series of NIOSH Occupational Safety and Health Symposia, are a compilation of papers presented during the 38th AMA Annual Congress on Occupational Health at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, Tucson, Arizona from September 14-16, 1978. While adhering to its tradition of bringing to the practising physician--and especially the part-time occupational physician--the latest developments in the field of occupational health and safety, this Congress was somewhat unique: not only did the meeting take place within a university environment, but this particular site was one of the newly formed Educational Resource Centers which had been established by NIOSH. Thus, as evidenced by the content of the papers in this volume, the conference should have appealed to the broadest possible spectrum of occupational health professionals--academicians, practitioners, and students. Topics ranged from legal issues (such as the confidentiality of medical records) to some of the more pressing health problems of the day (i.e., reproductive disorders of both the male and female workers, mJunes to the extremities, pesticide problems, nonpneumoconiotic diseases of the lung, cancer, and arthritides). Inasmuch as the meeting was staged at a medical school, it was appropriate that a forum assemble to discuss the direction such schools should be taking to train physicians or medical residents in the speciality of occupational medicine. On the other hand, both students and residents also had an opportunity to speak their minds on training in this important field of medicine when they told of their experiences in various clerkships in which they were engaged while in school.
