Twenty Grand
註釋Poetry. From the text: "My fathers fought for small honor, and what / I have abjured would make any ten men rich. / I have listened when there proved to be nothing / to hear, I have given the benefit of the doubt, / even friendship, to fools. And suffered accordingly. // I'm called Bitchin' Birchard, / proudly, in this less than perfect world, and this / prairie is precious as though it belonged to me. / I chreish this place and sing its praises following / the world's own cue. I live by faith alright in / these parts. // I riddle you no riddle, devise no illusion." Guy Birchard lives in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. His previous books incude Neckeverse (Galloping Dog, 1989) and BIRCHARD'S GARAGE (Pig, 1991).
