註釋
"Worship in Ancient Israel is a history of worship in Israel from the age of the Patriarchs until the time of the New Testament. It not only describes the historical development of Israelite forms of worship, but also sets out to discover the spirit behind them and the changes this underwent during the long period covered by the Old Testament. After discussing the faith of the patriarchs and the ways in which the worship of Yahweh came into Israel, H.H.Rowley examines certain aspects of this worship during the monarchy: the cult, the temple, psalmody, and the relation of prophecy to liturgy. The institution of the Synagogue is then considered, and the final chapter, entitled"the forms and the Spirit", shows that the real achievement of Israelite worship lies in the relationship established between God and man, and between man and man-an achievement which still has meaning for us today.
