註釋The findings of the environmental and historical background research revealed that Springbank Island is a historically important part of the Canberra community. For instance, the foothills of Black Mountain were an important meeting place for local Aboriginal communities. Furthermore, the Springbank property itself became the first to be settled by Europeans in the Limestone Plains and it had a long history of occupation by various families. In addition, the later development of the lake and Springbank as an island were an important part of the history of Canberra as a planned city.
