註釋Louis Jouvet -- director, actor, film star, teacher and writer -- was one of the most important theatre personalities of twentieth century France. In 1939-40, he had a stenographer take down the lessons he gave at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art. Though these lessons were never intended for publication, after his death Gallimard published them as two books -- Molière et la comédie classique (1965) and Tragédie classique et théâtre du XIXe siècle (1968).
