註釋In this oral history, mother, grandmother, church deaconess, and master storyteller Edith Hudley reflects on her life and shares her faith-based child rearing philosophy. Born black in rural Texas in 1920, she relates how her life experiences fostered her sense of self worth and her commitment to children. Hudley's story is punctuated by scholarly "interludes" from her academic co-authors on such topics as mentoring, physical discipline, and religion and spirituality.
