Foundations of General Linguistics
註釋The book is introductory and does not presuppose any previous knowledge of linguistics or of any other discipline to which we refer (philosophy, psychology, sociology). Because we devote a good deal of space to methodological issues and to discussion of the relationship between linguistics and these other disciplines, we hope that it will prove particularly suitable for undergraduates following a linguistics course as part of a broadly based scheme of study. It is also intended that each chapter should offer a useful introduction to its subject matter for the student who may have done a course in linguistics but been forced to neglect certain areas. The bibliographies for each chapter should be particularly useful in this respect.
