The Perfumes of Seven Tamarisks
註釋The decicatee of this volume, Wilfred Watson, is a man of many parts. As an academic, he is noted primiarily as a specialist in linguistics and poetics, but has written widely on literary, historical and cultural matters. Indeed, his own cultural spread is itself impressive, both in ancient terms, where he is in command of materials in Akkadian, Arabic, Aramaic, Egyptian, Hebrew, Hittite, Hurrian and Ugaritic and in modern terms, where he has provided excellent English translations of recent scholarship for his polyglottally-challenged colleagues from Catalan, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The articles of the volume reflect his broad fields of research.
