I will not allow my name to split the party -- if I go it must be by a majority vote of the Tillman men ..." He further states that "I am not & will not under any circumstances be a candidate for the House or Senate"; and: memorial exercises booklet, 1911 June 5, "in honor of Chief Justice Y.J. Pope held in the Supreme Court room, Columbia, S.C."
