John Cassin Correspondence to P.R. Hoy
註釋Correspondence from ornithologist John Cassin (1813-1869), of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to ornithologist P.R. (Philo Romayne) Hoy (1816-1892) in Racine, Wisconsin, dated September 16, 1864, regarding a potential exchange or acquisition of bird skins on behalf of the Academy of Natural Sciences. Cassin writes that he is interested in obtaining skins including vireos and tyrant flycatchers, the latter of which he would like for his own collection. Cassin further notes the difficulties in obtaining specimens from European sources due to the exchange rate. He also mentions the status of the collections of the Academy, writing, "We get a good many birds at the Academy as usual - not much North American though, except lots of the commoner species."
