Calabria - Cetraro
註釋Cetraro is an ancient seaside town with which over the centuries it has built a virtuous symbiotic relationship and from which it has been able to draw vitality and wealth. Even its seaside districts of the historic center, an urban agglomeration typical of the medieval Calabrian villages, tell us about the ancient traditions of fishermen, active in small-scale fishing and present with an important fishing fleet and which constitute the most pregnant expression of identity of this Tyrrhenian center. The port of San Benedetto, Blue Flag for tourist landings since 2018 and capable of hosting up to six hundred boats, is the visiting card for those wishing to land on our coasts and discover the beauty of its hinterland, full of breathtaking places, such as the Cliff of the Rizzi with the seventeenth-century Torre di Rienzo, the pine forest with its lakes and the old agglomeration with its cultural heritage. These include the Museo dei Brettii e del Mare housed in the elegant rooms of Palazzo Del Trono which exhibits artifacts of Brettian and marine archeology, the collection of ancient geographical maps, the Library and the art gallery set up in the reception room of this ancient noble residence. But at the same time worthy of a visit is the panoramic Piazza del Popolo with its poignant view of the Tyrrhenian sea and its monumental Fountain of Neptune, as well as the Mother Church of San Benedetto dedicated to the patron saint of Norcia to whom the city was entrusted in 1086 with the donation to the Benedictine monks of Montecassino on behalf of Sichelgaita who administered it until 1834. Visitors who choose Cetraro as a destination for their summer holidays will enjoy their stay, as well as by an important food and wine tradition, also by a considerable cultural ferment guaranteed by the festival jazz, exhibitions, concerts and theatrical performances that have the gardens of the museum building as their usual location. To all those who choose our town to spend their days of relaxation, my most cordial greeting of welcome and good stay. (Angelo Aita, Mayor)
