Carlsberg Automatic Meridian Circle
註釋The Carlsberg Automatic Meridian Circle (CAMC) on La Palma has an aperture of 1789 m and a focal length of 2665 mm. Completely computer-controlled, the CAMC has an automatic setting system, photoelectric micrometers, performs meteorological observations automatically, and has an upgraded circle-reading system. The recently improved accuracy of the system has revealed a potential displacement of 600 m in the location of the island relative to previous estimates of its position. The analytical models applied for determining the right ascension and the declination, identifying the profile, magnitude and image structure of target stars are provided. The CAMC in 1984 was used to make 35,100 observations of stars in the range 3-13 mag, 274 sightings of the outer planets, and 664 observations of minor planets.
