This narrative poem about colonial plantation life in South Carolina was written by a Tory sympathizer whose lands were confiscated after the Revolution. Written in 1776, it was published in England fifteen years later. Introduced and annotated by Citadel professor David Shields, and accompanied by a letter from Ogilvie to his sister and friends.
