While members of the Driver family emigrated to Canada from Ireland, their ancestors originally came from France and were French Huguenots. Joseph Driver (b. 1804) was born in Ireland and married Mary Connor and they immigrated with their children to Ontario, Canada. One of their daughters, Sarah Jane Driver (1838-1912) married Thomas McMichael (1826-1911) in 1862. Thomas was the son William McMichael and Mary A. Beatty. Both William and Mary were born in Ireland and were of Scottish heritage. Descendants live throughout Canada.
