註釋This reference set presents biographical and bibliographical information on influential and emerging writers of literary significance, including authors who have made literature their primary occupation and have written in English. The selection criteria also included whether the authors had won major awards, had works that were bestsellers, or had works that were included in high school and college curricula. Each entry provides information on the author's personal history, including birth and death dates, family life, education, career, memberships, and awards. Bibliographical information is then presented, followed by information on the critical reception of the author's works. Also included is bibliographical information on books, articles, and reviews about the author and his or her works, information about adaptations of the author's works, and lists of works scheduled to be published by the author. Indexes included in the final volume list the entries by nationality/ethnicity and subject/genre (covering some fifty genre and subject areas of fiction and non-fiction).
