Impact Crater Tectonics
註釋Were it not for the obscuring effects of erosion, sedimentation, together with wind, water, and sun, the Earth's landscape would be indistinguishable from that of the Moon's. Exploring the solar system around us, it has become painfully obvious that either the Earth has been immune to large meteorite, asteroid, or comet strikes, or else we lack the tools necessary for their recognition. When asteroids strike planets, vast amounts of kinetic energy are released, transformed into potential energy. Much of this energy is dissipated as heat, an oscillatory distribution of energy; however, much of this potential energy remains hidden, its true value awaiting discovery.
