註釋
"The Great Flood" is a play about center fielder Curt Flood and his fight to gain the rights of baseball players to become free agents. The play is set in the early 1990s. Flood's story is told through conversations with a fictitious young baseball superstar named Manuel Ortiz, who is facing a moral dilemma and his sought his hero's advice. Ortiz must decide whether to expose a teammate's steroid use or remain silent about it. Through their talk Flood tells what gave him the guts to challenge baseball's reserve clause, which prevented players from going to the teams of their choice once their contract expired. Ortiz also learns of the emotional and financial cost Flood paid for doing the right thing."--Abstract.
