註釋
"A low birth rate and aging of the population, which will accelerate in the years ahead, present many challenges for Canada. One of the most signifi cant and pressing challenges involves the labour force, which is already experiencing and will continue to experience profound and rapid change in the decades ahead. With the aging of the boomer generation, the absolute number as well as the proportion of older workers in the work force has risen sharply in recent years. Boomers are reaching retirement age and beginning to leave the workforce in large numbers. Meanwhile, the number of young people entering the labour force has plateaued and is expected to decline in the future as a result of the low birth rate that has occurred in recent decades."--Introd.
