註釋 The authors of the Book Dr.V.Bastin Jerome and Dr.S.Mariadoss. “Human Capital Management” discusses very elaborately the topic under five chapters. Chapter I (2-21) begins with an introduction to Human Capital. Anaylsing the basic concepts relating to Human capital, brings out the various factors determining human capital, ways of increasing human capital. It ends with giving some cases. Chapter II (22-41) begins with an introduction to talent management. Career and Talent are very lucidly dealt with in this chapter. The meaning of the concept of Talent, its history, the process of talent is very elaborately detailed. Talent attrition is another topic that is clearly analysed. The right approach to talent management is discussed. Strategies appropriate to employee engagement and retention are clearly presented. This chapter concludes with a discussion on the best practices of Talent management in the globe and the scope for talent management in India. Chapter III (Pp42-87) brings out the role of human capital in innovation and technology. How innovation and technology are interrelated and interconnected are discussed in this chapter. Having briefly dealt with the interface between human capital and innovation, the authors present the various models of human capital and intellectual capital. Additionally, this chapter gives a complete picture of the concept of Knowledge. The importance of knowledge audit is finally proposed for ensuring quality. Chapter IV (Pp: 88 - 102) focuses on Change management and Human Capital in the 21st century. Both are non-negotiable concepts in today’s reality. Change is the only constant under which everything is functioning. It is designed in such a way that this is a forerunner for the future. Three types of changes according to Carson (1998) are brought out in the book. Adaptive change, Innovative change, and radically innovative change are analysed. Causes of change and various categories of change are also detailed. And taking how and why change is vital in human capital is taken for discussion, the authors finally give a model for initiating change at various levels of an organisation.
