註釋The graphic collection of Staedel Museum contains a drawing whose attribution and connection to Michelangelo was often discussed in the past. Starting but not only limited to this particular drawing the catalogue and the exhibition lay open the question of Zuschreibung (attribution) that is in case of the Michelangelo drawing very controversial. With the help of several pieces on loan from especially the British Museum in London and other European collections, subjects like Original, Copy, drawing style and quality will be discussed. The drawing of the Staedel Museum is connected with Lehr-Zeichnungen (Drawings for Teaching) where Michelangelo drew certain motives for his students to copy them on the same paper. The direct comparison of quality and style that are possible here are also given with some of Michelangelo's own drawings and copies of them from other artists.
