The effects of Azone in the form of an Azone in water emulsion on the in vitro permeation of hairless mouse skin and human epidermis were studied as a function of Azone concentration. Hydrocortisone was found to partition significantly into Azone emulsion droplets, lowering its thermodynamic activity and hence its flux through the skin.
