註釋
Metabolic Syndrome (MS) is defined as a clustering of risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose differ in Caucasians and African Americans. Growing evidence indicates that the apoB/apoA-I ratio predicts cardiovascular risk better than any other cholesterol indexes. We evaluated whether the apoB/apoA-I ratio is related to MS in 304 Caucasians and 224 African Americans undergoing diagnostic coronary angiography. Caucasian subjects compared with African Americans had a higher apoB/apoA-I ratio (1.15 vs. 1.07, P=0.012). The apoB/apoA-I ratio was significantly associated with the presence of MS in Caucasians (OR=5.9, P
