Bill describes his experiences and aspects of life as an ordinary soldier.He conveys his longing, his fears and his plans for the future. A humble man separated from his loved ones in service of his country in acknowledgement of his resilience, determination and resourcefulness so typical of his generation. Bill only survived 16 years after the war. In addition there is a transcript of a pocket diary he kept in the early years.
