George Family Papers
註釋Working out of state [Washington, D.C.?], in a letter of 4 March 1935, Reuben H. George (1909-1974), reports news of mutual friends and encourages his sister to study and practice her shorthand exercises, "that is what most of them fail on in their test. I think I can get you a job in a few weeks at $1650 per year"; noting recent political developments [presumably National Recovery Act and the New Deal programs to assist struggling farmers], he adds: "Dad, I supposed you will get a letter from Mr. Fulmer in the next few days ... tell him how the local farmers are agreeing or not agreeing with his program. Tell him something that will make him know that I am on his side in politics ..." In later correspondence, dated [February?] 1939 (Miami, Florida), written on letterhead stationery of the Perfection Steel & Wire Company, R.H. George discusses his employment situation and working the night shift
