註釋Attached is the surviving correspondence of St. Paulinus II, Patriarch of Aquileia, and a significant member of the Carolingian court of the Emperor Charlemagne. His letters records the Frankish church's political alliance with Leo III and all future popes of Rome. He also encourages the king to observe the necessary noblesse oblige when it comes to the ongoing welfare of his subjects, the church, as well as the realm in general.
