註釋This document presents the results to date of a research study of the problems of synchronization and deadlock. Particular emphasis is on applicability of solutions to a network environment and to data base access. In addition to providing a review and assessment of currently available techniques, this paper presents some new ideas in the areas of protocol resiliency, decentralized deadlock detection, and maintenance of update order.
