The Last Studebaker is set in South Bend, Indiana, where the closing of the Studebaker plant had disastrous consequences for Lois and her family thirty years ago. Willy and Lois have been divorced for a year when Willy finallly asks Lois to leave with their two daughters and find a place of their own. After renting a house from a real estate agent, they are surprised to find that their landlord, a man physically and psychically scarred from an automobile accident, has decided to come home as well. Sympathy and humor abound in this often surprising tale of loss, change, cars, and garage sales.
