註釋The first piece is descriptive of the author's home, an old army hut near Birmingham. This prompts personal reminiscence, including the fact that he was a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, which perhaps gives to his second, fictional, 'sketch' an added interest: For 'An Irish parliament' is an attempted satire upon the new Irish Free State.
