Unconventional Warfare and the Vietnamese Society
註釋The report has three purposes: (1) to present concisely information on the society of Vietnam in such a manner as to assist each American involved to fill out the picture of his own personal operational situation; (2) to project the current social, political, and economic situation in Vietnam, thus providing a pattern for future planning projections; and (3) to outline a systematic method for the improvement of American data capabilities on Vietnam by providing a scheme into which additional information gained by operational personnel can be meaningfully integrated. The first chapters of this report discuss Vietnamese society as it currently exists. Included are chapters on each of four basic aspects of Vietnamese society: the political, the military, the economic, and the attitude-forming. A chapter on cultural factors that influence the situation, together with a brief discussion of the society as an integrated whole, is also included in the first part of the report. A description is provided of Vietnamese society as it is projected to be 3 years in the future. A framework is also presented to guide persons in the field in assembling such additional data as may be required to fill out the details for a particular area of the society.
